A law enforcement official told The Associated Press three people were killed in the shooting at the Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen. Raymond Fang, the trauma medical director at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, said the hospital received four people suffering from gunshot wounds. He did not elaborate on their conditions.

The suspected shooter was in the hospital, though police officers did not discharge their weapons during the incident, officials said.

“We are so preliminary in this investigation,” Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said in a news conference. “It’s so important that we deal in facts.”

However, Police responded to the shooting just after 9 a.m. at a distribution center near Spesutia and Perryman roads. Authorities arrived on the scene in just over five minutes of the first call.

Furthermore, A law enforcement official told Fox News the shooter may have been a woman and confirmed the incident was no longer an “active shooter” situation as of 11:30 a.m.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan described the scene as “horrific.”

“We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting in Aberdeen. Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first res-ponders. The State stands ready to offer any support,” Hogan said.
