UNIBEN PG forms for the 2018/2019 Academic section is finally out for all qualified candidate to apply for the under list courses in other to upgrade ones educational qualification at all levels. To this effect, Candidates are hereby invited from suitably and qualified candidates for admission purposes into the following Postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s Degree and Ph.D in the various Faculties/Schools/Colleges of the University of Benin.

 

The UNIBEN PG forms for the 2018/2019 Academic section is current on sale from 8th June 2018 until its Closing Date which is 31st August, 2018. You are hereby advised to apply before time runs out

 

A. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

UNIBEN PG forms for the 2018/2019 Academic section is finally out Article has the following general admission requirement;

  1. A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the University of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents,) NOTE:
  2. A CREDIT PASS IN MATHS AND ENGLISH IS REQUIRED.
  3. Four credits at Ordinary level, plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes or any other equivalent.
  4. A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3rd class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into the Masters programmes.
  5. Candidates who obtained Master’s degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil. programme in the first instance.
  6. A candidate applying for the Ph.D. in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a minimum weighted average score of 60% in the Master’s degree.
  7. A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master’s degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall, on admission, be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60%.
  8. Only students who have the NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate can be allowed to clear into the different courses.

TRANSCRIPTS

Candidates should request for their transcript from their former institution by clicking on the link www.etx-ng.com/unibenpg to forward their academic transcript(s) to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies”, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication. Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.

Referees Reports

Admission Requirements

 

A. M.Sc. Degree Programme in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Extension:
Candidates for admission to these programmes shall hold a first degree of the University of Benin or any other University approved by the Senate of the University of Benin in any of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, and any other related discipline. The Minimum qualification for admission shall be a Second Lower division.

B. Ph.D. Degree Programmes:

The entry requirement for the Ph.D. Programmes shall be a Masters Degree of the University of Benin or any other University approved by the Senate, in any of the disciplines indicated in (a) above with an average M.Sc. Score of 60% and above.

Duration of Programmes:

a) M.Sc. (Agric Econs) & M.Sc. (Agric Extension)

Full-Time: Minimum of 4 semesters Maximum of 6 semesters
Part Time: Minimum of 6 semesters Maximum of 8 semesters

b) Ph.D. (Agric Econs) 6-10 semesters

Ph.D. (Agric Extension) ) 6-10 semesters
(b) Ph.D programme:
(i) Full-Time 6-10 semesters
(ii) Part-Time 8-12 semesters
